Here I can only lay before you what the Vedanta seeks to teach, and that is the deification of the world. The Vedanta does not in reality denounce the world. The ideal of renunciation nowhere attains such a height as in the teachings of the Vedanta. But, at the same time, dry suicidal advice is not intended; it really means deification of the world—giving up the world as we think of it, as we know it, as it appears to us—and to know what it really is. Deify it; it is God alone. (2.146)

વેદાંત શો ઉપદેશ કરવા માગે છે તે હું તમારી પાસે હું રજૂ કરું છું; તે ઉકેલ છે જગતને દિવ્ય બનાવવાનો. વેદાંત વાસ્તવિક રીતે જગતને વખોડી કાઢતું નથી. ત્યાગનો આદર્શ વેદાંતના ઉપદેશોમાં જે ઊંચી કક્ષાએ પહોંચે છે, તેવો બીજે ક્યાંય પહોંચતો નથી. પણ સાથોસાથ શુષ્ક આત્મઘાતી ઉપદેશ આપવાનો તેનો ઈરાદો નથી. વસ્તુતઃ તે ઉપદેશ જગતને દિવ્ય બનાવવાનો છે – એટલે કે જગત વિષેનો જે આપણો ખ્યાલ છે કે જગતને જે રીતે આપણે જાણી છીએ, જેવું તે આપણને દેખાય છે, તેવાનો ત્યાગ કરીને તે ખરેખર જેવું છે તેવું જાણવાનો છે. તેને દિવ્ય બનાવો; તે ઈશ્વર પોતે જ છે.
