If you succeed in the attempt to throw off your religion and take up either politics, or society, or any other things as your centre, as the vitality of your national life, the result will be that you will become extinct. To prevent this you must make all and everything work through that vitality of your religion. Let all your nerves vibrate through the backbone of your religion. જો તમે તમારા ધર્મને ફેંકી દેવાના પ્રયત્નમાં સફળ થશો અને રાજકારણ કે સમાજ અગર બીજા કશાને તમારા રાષ્ટ્રીય કેન્દ્ર તરીકે સ્વીકારશો, પ્રજાકીય જીવનના પ્રાણરૂપે અપનાવશો, તો અંતે તમે ખતમ થઈ જશો! એમ થતું અટકાવવા માટે તમારે ધર્મની આ જીવનશક્તિ દ્વારા જ એકેએક કામ કરવું જોઈએ. તમારાં બધાં જ્ઞાનતંતુઓ તમારા ધર્મની પીઠિકા દ્વારા ઝણઝણી ઊઠવા જોઈએ. यदि तुम धर्म को फेंककर राजनीति, समाज-नीति अथवा अन्य किसी दूसरी नीति को अपनी जीवन-शक्ति का केन्द्र बनाने में सफल हो जाओ, तो उसका फल यह होगा कि तुम्हारा अस्तित्व तक न रह जायगा । यदि तुम इससे बचना चाहो, तो अपनी जीवन-शक्तिरूपी धर्म के भीतर से ही तुम्हें अपने सारे कार्य करने होंगे अपनी प्रत्येक क्रिया का केन्द्र इस धर्म को ही बनाना होगा तुम्हारे स्नायुओं का प्रत्येक स्पन्दन तुम्हारे इस धर्मरूपी मेरुदंड के भीतर से होकर गुजरे । (विवेकानंद साहित्य ग्रंथ 5 पृष्ठ 115)
