Supposing this absolute unselfishness can be reached by a man, what becomes of him? He is no more the little Mr. So—and—so; he has acquired infinite expansion. The little personality which he had before is now lost to him for ever; he has become infinite, and the attainment of this infinite expansion is indeed the goal of all religions and of all moral and philosophical teachings. માનો કે આ સંપૂર્ણ નિઃસ્વાર્થપણું માણસ પ્રાપ્ત કરે, પછી એનું શું થાય ? પછી એ ‘શ્રી.. ફલાણા – ફલાણા -’ રહેતા નથી; એ અનંત – વિસ્તારને પામે છે. પહેલાં જે એનું અલ્પ વ્યક્તિત્વ હતું એ હંમેશને માટે ગયું; એ અનંત બન્યો અને આ અનંત વિસ્તારને પામવું એ એ ખરેખર બધા ધર્મોનો, નીતિનો અને તત્ત્વજ્ઞાનનો ઉપદેશ છે. मान लो, किसी मनुष्यने इस सम्पूर्ण निःस्वार्थपरता को प्राप्त कर लिया, तो फिर उसकी क्या दशा हो जाती है? फिर वह अमुक अमुक नामवाला पहले का क्षुद्र व्यक्ति नहीं रह जाता, वह अनन्त विस्तार प्राप्त कर लेता है फिर उसका पहले का वह क्षुद्र व्यक्तित्व सदा के लिए नष्ट हो जाता है. अब वह अनन्तस्वरुप हो जाता है, और इस अनन्त विकास की प्राप्ति ही असल में समस्त दार्शिनिक एवं नैतिक शिक्षाओं का लक्ष्य है। (विवेकानंद साहित्य ग्रंथ 3 पृष्ठ 82)
