If you want to have life, you have to die every moment for it. Life and death are only different expressions of the same thing looked at from different standpoints; they are the falling and the rising of the same wave, and the two form one whole. તમને જો જીવનની અભિલાષા હોય તો તમારે એના માટે પ્રતિક્ષણ મરવું પડશે. જીવન અને મૃત્યુ એક જ વસ્તુની વિભિન્ન છે અભિવ્યક્તિઓ અલગ અલગ દૃષ્ટિબિંદુઓથી તે ભિન્ન ભિન્ન દેખાય છે માત્ર. એ એક જ મોજાંના ભરતી અને ઓટ જેવાં છે, અને એ બંને મળીને એક મોજું બનાવે છે. એક જણ માત્ર ‘ઓટ’ તરફ જુએ છે અને નિરાશાવાદી બને છે; બીજો ‘ભરતી’ તરફ જોઈ આશાવાદી બને છે. यदी तुम्हें जीवन की अभिलाषा हो, तो उसके लिए तुम्हें प्रतिक्षण मरना होगा । जीवन और मृत्यु एक ही चीज़ की विभिन्न अभिव्यक्तियाँ हैं- केवल अलग अलग दृष्टिकोणों से भिन्न भिन्न दिखायी मात्र देती हैं। वे एक ही तरंग के उत्थान और पतन हैं, और दोनों को मिलाने से ही एक सम्पूर्ण तरंग बनती है । एक व्यक्ति पतन को देखता है और निराशावादी बन जाता है; दूसरा उत्थान देखता है और आशावादी बना जाता है । (विवेकानंद साहित्य ग्रंथ 3 पृष्ठ 85)
