Thus everyone born into this world has a bent, a direction towards which he must go, through which he must live, and what is true of the individual is equally true of the race. આ રીતે આ સંસારમાં જન્મેલ દરેકેદરેકને એક વળાંક, એક દિશા હોય છે; એ તરફ તેણે જવું જ પડે, એમાં થઈને જ તેણે જીવવું જોઈએ. જેટલું વ્યક્તિ વિશે આ સાચું છે એટલું જ તે પ્રજા વિશે પણ સાચું છે. તે પ્રમાણે દરેક પ્રજાનો એક જીવનહેતુ હોય છે, તેના અસ્તિત્વનો એક ખાસ જીવનહેતુ-વિશિષ્ટ લક્ષણ હોય છે, સમગ્ર દુનિયાના સામૂહિક જીવનમાં પૂર્તિ કરવાનું એક વિશિષ્ટ જીવનકાર્ય હોય છે.
