Atman goes through birth and death, accompanied by the mind, the Sukshma Sharira. And when the time comes that it has attained to all knowledge and manifested itself to perfection, then this going from birth to death ceases for it. Then it is at liberty either to keep that mind, the Sukshma Sharira, or to let it go for ever, and remain independent and free throughout all eternity. આત્મા સૂક્ષ્મ શરીર એટલે કે મનની સાથે જન્મ અને મૃત્યુમાંથી પસાર થાય છે અને જે સમયે તેને પૂર્ણજ્ઞાન થાય છે, જે સમયે એ પૂર્ણત્વને પ્રગટ કરે છે, તે કાળે તેનું જન્મમરણનું ભ્રમણ બંધ થાય છે. ત્યાર પછી તે મન યાને સૂક્ષ્મ શરીર રાખવાને અગર તેનો કાયમને માટે ત્યાગ કરવાને તથા અનંતકાળ સુધી સ્વતંત્ર અને મુક્ત રહેવાને છૂટો છે. आत्मा, मन घ्य़ा सूक्ष्म शरीर के साथ, जन्म और मृत्यु के चक्र में घूम रहा है। और जब समय आता है और उसे सर्वज्ञता तथा पूर्णत्व प्राप्त होता है, तब यह जन्म-मृत्यु का चक्र समाप्त हो जाता है। फिर वह स्वतन्त्र होकर चाहे तो मन या सूक्ष्म शरीर को रख सकता है, अथवा उसका त्याग कर चिरकाल के लिए स्वाधीन और मुक्त रह सकता है। (विवेकानंद साहित्य V. 5 pg.26)
