The first work that demands our attention is that the most wonderful truths confined in our Upanishads, in our scriptures, in our Puranas must be brought out from the books, brought out from the monasteries, brought out from the forests… and scattered broadcast all over the land, so that these truths may run like fire all over the country from north to south and east to west, from the Himalayas to Comorin, from Sindh to the Brahmaputra. પહેલું કામ આપણાં ઉપનિષદોમાં, આપણાં શાસ્ત્રોમાં, આપણાં પુરાણોમાં પુરાઈ રહેલાં અદ્ભુતમાં અદ્ભુત સત્યોને પુસ્તકોમાંથી, મઠોમાંથી, અરણ્યોમાંથી અને આખા દેશમાં તેમનો બહોળો પ્રચાર કરવાનું છે… આ બધાં સત્યો આખા દેશમાં એક ખૂણાથી બીજા ખૂણા સુધી, હિમાલયથી કન્યાકુમારી સુધી અને સિંધુથી બ્રહ્મપુત્રા સુધી ચોમેર સળગતી આગની પેઠે ફરી વળે તે કરવાનું છે ! सर्वप्रथम, हमारे उपनिषदों, पुराणों और अन्य सब शास्त्रों में जो अपूर्व सत्य छिपे हुए हैं, उन्हें इन सब ग्रन्थों के पन्नों से बाहर निकालकर, मठों की चहारदीवारियाँ भेदकर, वनों की शून्यता से दूर लाकर…. देश में सर्वत्र बिखेर देना होगा, ताकि ये सत्य दावानल के समान सारे देश को चारों ओर से लपेट लें – उत्तर से दक्षिण और पूर्व से पश्चिम तक सब जगह फैल जायँ – हिमालय से कन्याकुमारी और सिन्धु से ब्रह्मपुत्र तक सर्वत्र वे धधक उठें। (विवेकानंद साहित्य ग्रंथ 5 पृष्ठ 116)
