Description

The Universal Symphony of Swami Vivekananda comprises seven revealing lectures delivered by Revered Swami Ranganathananda, currently President, Ramakrishna math, and Ramakrishna Mission. These talks have been compiled from the second volume of the author’s four-volume publication, Eternal Values for a Changing Society published by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai
Unlike the isolated societies of the ancient and medieval periods, modern societies and countries have become closely interconnected like neighbors – an outcome of modern scientific advancement and commercial explosion. Evidently, this scenario has made it imperative for humankind to desperately search for common meeting points, mutual understanding, appreciation, and harmony, merging all racial and sectarian outlooks – gradually leading to a grand symphony of human culture.
Swami Vivekananda was an embodiment of this symphony. Romain Rolland truly remarked of him, ‘In the two words, equilibrium and synthesis, Vivekananda’s constructive genius may be summed up. He embraced all the paths of the spirit; the four Yogas in their entirety, renunciation, and service, art, and science, religion and action, from the most spiritual to the most practical.
We earnestly hope that the revered author’s impressive presentation of ideas in these seven lectures will help the readers understand, as in the past, Swami Vivekananda’s saving message for India and the world in a deeper way.
